We have been monitoring the evolving situation regarding COVID-19 across the country and we continue to take direction from public health officials. We were hopeful our summer program would continue, but at this time our understanding is that restrictions may be in place for several more weeks or even months.
With this in mind, and to ensure the health and safety of our participants, families, employment partners and staff we have made the difficult decision to close our program for the 2020 summer season. For our program to operate, we need enough lead time to recruit participants, interview and thoroughly screen hosting spaces, and recruit and select sufficient employers for summer jobs. We also need enough lead time to organize a full summer of exciting activities and arrange and coordinate travel for staff and participants. Unfortunately, we just aren’t able to complete these tasks in time to operate our program at the high standard we expect. While we are disappointed, we know this is the right decision.
Our Full-time staff team will close the program for this season, but we will be reopening our registration system for the Summer of 2021 on July 1, 2020.
